Pokemon Go Update – 8 August 2016

An update for Pokemon Go came out today. As I was in San Francisco for UXWeek, I was one of the first people to get the update.

The nearby feature changed. Now I can see what Pokemon were at what Pokestop. This was not as fun as the original feature!

The other feature warns you not to play Pokemon Go while driving. This works by monitoring the speed and sending and update. More annoying than helpful, but probably forced by standards associations. This message is similar to the one on Waze about driving and being a passenger.

Here’s a quick picture of just how dense and lure-filled downtown San Francisco is from my hotel room at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero. The screenshot is from my hacked account. I mostly fought against hacked accounts from China that were level 32-34.
